Bruce Bueno de Mesquita is Julius Silver Professor of Politics,
New York University. In addition, he is: Director, Center for Conflict
Resolution and Multilateral Cooperation at NYU; Member, Council on Foreign
Relations; Fellow, American Academy of Arts and Sciences; and past president,
International Studies Association. The focus of his interest is to develop
computational rational decision models and to apply them to problems in
private and public organizations, in national development, and in global
politics. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of
Michigan; is the author of many books, articles, and papers, scholarly
and popular; and has more than 30 years of experience in research and
teaching in public policy, international relations, and quantitative research

George S. Cowan has taught and worked in the area of software
engineering, industrial simulation, and machine learning for over 30 years.
He recently retired from a position as Senior Principal Scientist at Pfizer
Global Research and Development, where he developed programs that learned to
predict the biological activity of proposed new compounds. He holds a Ph.D.
in Computer Science from Wayne State University, where his program of study
was Knowledge-Based Software Engineering, and an M.S. in Operations Research
from Illinois Institute of Technology. Dr. Cowan serves as Vice President of

of International Relations, Department of Political Science, University
Of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In addition he is: Member, International
Advisory Board, Journal of Conflict Resolution; Member of the Daily Board
of the Amsterdam School of International Relations; Professor of International
Relations, Webster University, Leyden, Netherlands; and is a former Fulbright

Myron Karasik is an independent management consultant. The focus of his interest is to
develop computational models and to apply them to public and private strategic
planning. He holds an M.S. (and all but dissertation for Ph.D.) in Electrical
Engineering (Computer & Control Systems) from Purdue University and
an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from Northwestern University; is a
CPA; is the author of several scholarly articles and papers; and has over
ten years of CIO experience and another 15 as a professional certified
management consultant, specializing in strategic systems development and
deployment. Mr. Karasik is a Member of the Board of Directors of Global

Gottfried Josef Mayer - in memorium (March 22, 1954 - January 25, 2009)
Gottfried Josef Mayer was member of the Global Vision Board of Directors and also served on the Scientific Advisory Panel. He was Adjunct Associate Professor of Kinesiology,
Pennsylvania State University and Visiting Professor, both at Institute
of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology, University of
Tuebingen, Germany and at National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei,
Taiwan. In addition, he was founding editor of Complexity Digest.
His interests were: complex, adaptive systems foundations for universal
laws of learning; non-linear, stochastic dynamical systems models
for complex behavior; and interdisciplinary, collaborative research
on applications of complex systems. He held a Dr.rer.nat. in
theoretical physics from University of Stuttgart and a Diploma in
theoretical physics from University of Hamburg; was the author or
editor of many books, articles, and papers; and had more than 20
years of experience in research and teaching in the areas of his
interest. Professor Mayer also participated in the
conference, Illuminating the Shadow of the Future: Scientific
Prediction and the Human Condition, held at the University of
Michigan in September, 2005, which was co-sponsered by Global
Vision.

Joseph B. McCarthy is founder and President of McCarthy Healthcare Consulting
LLC, a health care management consulting practice specializing in business
strategy for health care and other non-profit organizations. Immediately
prior, he was Chief Planning Officer for Saint Joseph Mercy Health System
in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Experience includes six years as a health care
strategy consultant with top-tier national firms, followed by over 20
years senior-level experience with leading hospitals and hospital systems
in various markets across the U.S. He holds an MBA in marketing from Northwestern
University's Kellogg School of Management, an M.S. in health planning
from UCLA, and a B.S. in marketing from the University of Illinois. He
recently served as Lecturer in health planning at Eastern Michigan University.

joint appointment in Political Science, at State University of New York,
Binghamton. In addition, he is: Editor of Research in Labor Economics;
and Coeditor of Peace Economics, Peace Science, and Public Policy; past
president, Peace Science Society International; and is listed in Who's
Who in Economics and Who’s Who in America, and ...in Finance and
Industry, among other directories. His interests include: labor economics,
including human capital theories of income distribution and public policy
implications; health economics; econometrics; and international relations.
He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University; is the author
of many articles and papers; and has more than 35 years of experience
in research and teaching in the areas of his interest. Professor Polachek

J. David
Singer - in memorium (December 7, 1925 - December 28, 2009)
Professor Singer was an early and
consistent supporter of Global Vision and served for many years as a
member of our Scientific Advisory Panel. He was Professor
Emeritus of Political Science at the University
of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was founder of the Correlates of
War project and Director at its University of Michigan location; past
president, International Studies Association; and was listed in Who's
Who in America and ...in the World, among other directories. The focus
of his interest was the quantitative data-based study of world politics,
and of international conflict and war prevention; in which study he is
widely recognized as a preeminent founder. He held a Ph.D. in political
science from New York University; was the author of many books, articles,
and papers; and had more than 50 years of experience in research and teaching
in the areas of his interest.
