Gottfried Josef Mayer is Adjunct Associate Professor of Kinesiology, Pennsylvania State University and Visiting Professor, both at Institute of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology, University of Tuebingen, Germany and at National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei, Taiwan. In addition, he is founding editor of Complexity Digest. McCarthy is founder and President of McCarthy Healthcare Consulting LLC, a health care management consulting practice specializing in business strategy for health care and other non-profit organizations. Immediately prior, he was Chief Planning Officer for Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Experience includes six years as a health care strategy consultant with top-tier national firms, followed by over 20 years senior-level experience with leading hospitals and hospital systems in various markets across the U.S. He holds an MBA in marketing from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, an M.S. in health planning from UCLA, and a B.S. in marketing from the University of Illinois.
